Robert Wagner
(1930 - )
Born: February 10, 1930, Detroit, MI
Handsome, genial American lead who achieved second-rank star status in such films as TITANIC (1953), PRINCE VALIANT (1954) and the first version of A KISS BEFORE DYING (1956). In the 1960s Wagner contributed engaging performances to THE PINK PANTHER (1964) and WINNING (1969), but his modestly successful career was already moving towards TV. The small screen consolidated his image as an American David Niven: mildly roguish but essentially honorable. Wagner twice played former thieves turned detectives, in "It Takes a Thief" and "Switch." His last and most popular TV detective drama, "Hart to Hart," aspired to be a Thin Man series for the 80s, with Wagner playing William Powell to Stefanie Powers' Myrna Loy. Twice married to Natalie Wood, he later wed longtime companion Jill St. John.
